If you're looking for something fun to do in Columbus, Ohio in late September, and if you enjoy reading or writing science fiction, fantasy, horror, or manga, or if you enjoy watching anime, horror, scifi, and fantasy movies, we've got something for you!
Over 30 authors and editors will be attending the convention; in addition to panels, author readings, writing workshops, and book signings, you'll have the chance to chat with authors such as Brian Keene, Gary Braunbeck, and Tanya Huff at various publisher-sponsored parties that will be going on all weekend. Free food, free drinks, music, dancing ... with so many fun things to do, what more could you want?
You could want concerts and movies, of course! We'll be running anime and science fiction movies all weekend, and we'll be hosting a special showing of the short SF film
APOLLO (hosted by executive producer Diana Botsford, who has written for Star Trek and who has done visual effects directing and supervision for a wide variety of films including
Nightmare of Elm Street VI, Tank Girl, From Dusk Til Dawn, Terminator 2 and many independent films).
Wild Mercy will be playing Saturday night, with an open filk after. If you're not the filking type, there will also be poetry readings. And, of course, the parties.
During the day, we'll also have a dealer's room with lots of cool stuff for sale, and there will be a room for people who want to play board and video games. We'll have a charity Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament on Saturday in addition to a charity raffle to support First Book and Alzheimer's research.
Context will be happening right at the end of the first week of classes at Ohio State University, and we hope that lots of returning OSU students will come out and join us for the fun.
