Workshop: Creating the Comic Book Series

Fracture CoverDiana Botsford and Chun Lee: Creating the Comic Book Series
(Saturday, Sept. 27th, 2:00-4:00pm)
Join Chun Lee and Diana Botsford, authors of the new FE comic book series, The Fracture, in this 2-hour workshop on creating and writing a comic book series for publication. Learn how to write a proposal for a series, how to write a 'pilot' issue, what it takes to collaborate with others (illustrators, inkers, colorists, etc) and most importantly, how to tell a story visually.

Participants will create opening scenes and sequences, and join in writing exercises to get the collaborative juices going. Bring your laptop (if you have one) or pen and paper.

As of June 5th, twenty-two seats remain in this workshop. The cost is $15, plus convention registration. Register today to secure your spot in the workshop.

Diana Dru Botsford* is a transplated New Yorker (Go Mets!) with a varied background in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. She has writen for Star Trek: The Next Generation ("RASCALS") and produced for television, including the cult hit animated series "Spiral Zone." In between writing jaunts, she's designed, directed and supervised visual effects for films such as From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Nightmare on Elm Street VI, and Tank Girl.

Botsford recently completed her first full-length Science Fiction novel, Critical Past and when not devising new twists and turns for The Fracture characters, she teaches screenwriting at Missouri State University in addition to working on her second SF novel. She also writes and directs for the local community theatre.

Chun Lee* has been a huge fan of comic books since he was twelve and collecting Marvel Universe Cards. He now lives in Old Town, Maine, deflecting questions of why he came up to a frozen wasteland after growing up in Southern California. His short story "A Contained Inferno" will be featured in the March 31st issue of the webzine The Late Late Show, and his short story "Stillworld" will be in the FE anthology Sails and Sorcery.
