Earlier this month, Context's masquerade director, Julie Washington, lost her mother after a long illness.
We would like to express our most sincere condolences for her and her family's loss.
Mrs. Myrtle Marie Boddie Washington passed on at age 85 after an extended illness. She is survived by loving daughter Julie and son-in-law, Robert D. Swiger, along with many nieces and nephews.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1922, Myrtle moved to Canton, Ohio, in 1942. She worked as a beautician in Canton and was president of Trump Road Elementary School PTA, Miss Black Juniorette Pagents director, Canton South High School's Black Awareness Society advisor, Girl Scout troop leader, Canton South Band Boosters, and True Vine Garden Club; she directed numerous church programs and judged high school speech tournaments. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, gardening, Scrabble, reading, movies and fashion. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, sense of humor, storytelling flair, beautifully kept yard and sense of style.
