Whether you are looking for your moment on stage, or for a chance to sit and listen, Context has what you're looking for during our open reading sessions!
In addition to scheduled readings by our Guests of Honor and Featured Guests, Context will make time slots available for open readings. If you want to polish your presentation skills, or if you have something you want to say, just sign up for some time and show up when scheduled. (It couldn't hurt to mention your reading to a few folks, too, if you want an audience!)
There are, of course, a few restictions.
- Our guests will get priority scheduling.
- You must have a legal right to perform the material. (Unauthorized performance is a form of copyright violation and can't be permitted.)
- The reader is responsible for ensuring that any necessary audience restrictions are enforced. If you're going to read something inappropriate for youngsters, you need to make sure none are present at the reading. Failure to do this will result in loss of privileges.
- Scheduled times will be enforced - if your reading is running long and the next person on the schedule is waiting, you will be asked to cut it off, or move it to a private room, or something. (If your readiung is running long and there's nobody after you on the schedule, you' re more than welcome to continue.)
That's all there is to it! Poetry or prose, published or unpublished, it's up to you!
