Context is a friendly convention focused on speculative fiction literature and related games, comics and films.

If you enjoy manga, anime, science fiction, fantasy, or horror, you'll find plenty to entertain you at this convention.

Friday Evening

The InuYashu Movie: Affections Touching Across Time

You've seen the TV show on Cartoon Network, now see what the InuYashu crew can do on the big screen. The son of an ancient demon has awakened and is trying to destroy the world. It is up to modern school girl Kagome and half-demon InuYashu and their friends to save the day. (This is a time travel story in honor of Connie Willis.)

Azumanga Daioh

One of the funniest anime in existence. A slice of life story about school girls being school girls. (No super-heroics, no ninjas, no mech pilots, and no sailor scouts) We will show 3 episodes of this wonderful TV show. Warning: The last episode contains possibly the cutest image ever produced. It has been known to cause cavities and instant diabetes. Watch at your own risk!

Read or Die: the TV Series

When Yomiko Readman disappears, her best friend, famous author, Nenene, develops writer's block. To clear her head Nenene agrees to a publicity trip to Hong Kong, where she meets the Paper Sisters. These three young women, part bodyguards, part private detectives, have the psychic ability to mentally manipulate paper. After rescuing Nenene from an obsessed psychotic fan, the Paper Sisters follow her back to Tokyo, to watch over the author. A must see for book lovers.

You've heard us rave about this anime at various panels, now come see our favorite SF Anime series. Flash back to the Saturday mornings of your youth! Join Space Ghost,Rocky & Bullwinkle, and Johnny Quest, plus more surprise guests.Safer than a ride in Mr. Peabody's Way-Back machine! Cereal and milk to be available if regulations permit. Come in your PJs if you like, just be careful not to wake-up Mom and Pop!

Saturday Evening

Metal Tears

Hellboy

The hit live-action movie based on the Mike Mignola comic book. When the world is threatened by supernatural nasties, a top-secret government agency is called in to save the day. A team of super-powered agents led by Hellboy, a real demon, can do the job when mere humans fail.

The Returner

A time travel movie from Japan. In the year 2080, humanity is being over-run by aliens. A prototype time machine is used to send one woman back to our present to stop the series of events that lead to this disastrous future. More time-hopping fun in tribute to Connie Willis.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

The final chapter in Peter Jackson's version of Tolkein's famous trilogy. There will be dire consequences for Middle Earth if the hobbits and their companions can not finish their quest. If you haven't seen it for a while, come join us for this Oscar-winning movie.

Sunday Morning

Doctor Who: The Curse of Fenric

The Doctor and Ace travel to World War II England and must battle blood sucking sea zombies. Ace must also face her issues of abandonment when she must protect her own infant mother. Start Sunday off right with the Doctor.
